2025 June Tasting Event for Students at the Helen Keller National Center

Garden Club members prepared a "food tasting menu" for the student residents at HKNC,  using herbs that can be found in the sensory garden. The tasting was followed by a tour of the plantings, so the students can enjoy visiting the garden on their own.

2025 April - Earth Day Tree Planting at Village Hall

The Sands Point Garden Club celebrated Arbor Day by planting a tree at the Village Hall. Pictured above is a group of members with SP Mayor, Peter Forman.  The tree, an "Autumn Brilliance" serviceberry (Amelanchier grandiflora) is known for its vibrant fall color, usually a mix of orange and red, with some yellow and pink. It also offers multi-season interest with white spring blooms, sweet, purplish-black fruit in summer, and a rounded canopy with attractive bark. It is resistant to common plant diseases, attracts birds, butterflies, and pollinators with its flowers and fruit.
